What ARROW FINANCIAL CORP does
In the company’s own words
Arrow Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: AROW) operates as a bank holding company providing comprehensive financial services through its principal subsidiary, Arrow Bank National Association. The company maintains its primary operations in upstate New York, serving customers across 38 branch locations and nine insurance offices as of December 31, 2025. Arrow Bank holds total assets of approximately $4.4 billion and employs 578 full-time equivalent staff members.
The company's core business encompasses a broad range of commercial and consumer banking services. Arrow engages in commercial and industrial lending primarily to small and mid-sized companies, residential and commercial mortgage lending, and consumer installment and home equity financing. The company maintains an active indirect lending program through automobile dealer networks operating across New York and Vermont. Arrow Bank provides trust and estate administration services for individuals and pension and employee benefit plan administration for corporations. Through its subsidiaries, Arrow offers property and casualty insurance, group health care policies, life insurance, and registered investment advisory services.
Arrow's lending strategy emphasizes portfolio quality through strong underwriting procedures and collateral control systems. The company does not engage in subprime mortgage lending and avoids high-risk loan products. Residential mortgage originations are periodically sold into secondary markets, primarily to Freddie Mac and governmental agencies, with the company typically retaining servicing rights. The loan portfolio is concentrated in upstate New York, with the exception of the indirect consumer lending program, and contains no foreign loans or significant risk concentrations.
The company was incorporated in 1983 and operates as a registered bank holding company under Federal Reserve supervision. Effective December 31, 2024, Arrow unified its former subsidiary banks, Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company and Saratoga National Bank and Trust Company, into a single banking subsidiary. In February 2026, Arrow announced an agreement to merge with Adirondack Bancorp, Inc., expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, which would add approximately $942 million in assets and expand Arrow's geographic footprint across additional counties in central New York.
