The company derives revenue from two primary reportable segments: Baseball and Mixed-Use Development. The Baseball segment generates income from ticket sales, concessions, local broadcasting rights, advertising sponsorships, suite and premium seat fees, retail and licensing revenue, and shared MLB revenue streams including national broadcasting rights. The Mixed-Use Development segment produces revenue from office and retail rental income, parking, and advertising sponsorships at The Battery Atlanta, a 2.25 million square-foot mixed-use complex surrounding Truist Park.
The Braves franchise represents the oldest continuously operating professional sports franchise in the United States, having fielded a team every season since 1871. The team relocated to Atlanta in 1966 and won the World Series in 1995 and again in 2021. In 2017, the franchise moved to Truist Park, a new 40,700-seat ballpark in Cobb County, Georgia, which the company operates under a 30-year agreement expiring in 2046 with extension options through 2051.
The company operates approximately 1,610 full-time, seasonal, and part-time employees across its baseball operations and mixed-use development properties. Beyond Truist Park, the company operates CoolToday Park, a spring training facility in North Port, Florida, and maintains player development operations including a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic and affiliations with four Professional Development League clubs.
Atlanta Braves Holdings was spun off from Liberty Media Corporation on July 18, 2023, through a tax-free split-off transaction. The company maintains equity method investments in MLB Advanced Media, L.P. and Baseball Endowment, L.P., and holds 50% interests in various joint ventures developing hotels within The Battery Atlanta. The company's business is subject to MLB Rules and Regulations and operates under the current collective bargaining agreement covering the 2022-2026 MLB seasons.
