(NYSE: AVT) is a leading global provider of mission-critical products and services to customers in the biopharma and healthcare, education and government, and advanced technologies and applied materials end markets. The company operates through two reportable segments: Laboratory Solutions and Bioscience Production. Laboratory Solutions represents the larger segment and includes the VWR distribution channel, which distributes consumables and equipment to laboratories worldwide through a network of over 5,000 private label suppliers and millions of SKUs from renowned life sciences suppliers. Bioscience Production encompasses specialty product manufacturing including J.T. Baker high-purity chemicals, Masterflex fluid handling systems, and NuSil high-purity silicone products for medical devices and aerospace applications.
The company serves more than 300,000 customer locations across approximately 180 countries. As of December 31, 2025, Avantor employed approximately 13,500 associates across more than 30 countries, with roughly 4,800 employees in the United States. The company operates over 200 facilities globally, including more than 40 manufacturing facilities, numerous distribution centers, and 15 innovation centers. Approximately 80 percent of transactions occur through digital channels, reflecting the company's significant e-commerce capabilities and AI-enhanced customer platforms.
Avantor's product and service portfolio comprises materials and consumables, equipment and instrumentation, and services and specialty procurement. More than 85 percent of net sales derive from recurring product and service offerings. The company maintains distinctive competitive advantages through its global footprint, comprehensive product breadth, customization capabilities, and value-added service organization of approximately 2,000 associates who work alongside customers to support laboratory and production workflows.
The company's legacy traces to the 1904 founding of J.T. Baker Chemical Company. Following acquisition by New Mountain Capital in 2010, Avantor expanded through significant acquisitions including NuSil in 2016 and VWR in 2017.
