What AVITA Medical, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

AVITA Medical, Inc. (Nasdaq: RCEL) is a leading therapeutic acute wound care company delivering transformative solutions designed to optimize wound healing and accelerate patient recovery across the continuum of acute wound management. The company operates at www.avitamedical.com.

AVITA Medical's current commercial portfolio centers on RECELL, an autologous cell harvesting technology that enables clinicians to create a suspension of a patient's own skin cells at the point of care, reducing donor site morbidity while maintaining or improving healing outcomes. The technology allows treatment of large wounds using a small donor skin sample, with the suspension containing key skin cell populations including keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and melanocytes critical to regenerative wound healing. The company has evolved the RECELL technology platform across multiple device iterations, including RECELL 1920, RECELL Ease-of-Use, RECELL GO, and RECELL GO mini, each designed to meet different clinical and workflow needs.

Beyond RECELL, AVITA Medical expanded into a multi-product acute wound care platform beginning in 2024. The company entered into exclusive distribution agreements for PermeaDerm, a biosynthetic wound matrix, and Cohealyx, a collagen-based dermal matrix designed to support wound bed preparation and accelerate readiness for grafting. These complementary products support comprehensive wound management from initial coverage through definitive closure and healing.

RECELL is FDA-approved for treating thermal burn wounds, full-thickness skin defects, and stable depigmented vitiligo lesions. The company addresses a significant market opportunity, with approximately 40,000 people requiring hospital admission annually for severe burns in the United States, and an estimated 272,000 procedures annually eligible for treatment across traumatic injuries, surgical wounds, and cancer-related resections.

As of December 31, 2025, AVITA Medical employed approximately 226 full-time and part-time employees, primarily based in the United States. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Ventura, California, where it produces RECELL and PermeaDerm under current Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO 13485 standards, along with administrative offices in Valencia and Irvine, California. The company's intellectual property portfolio includes six issued U.S. utility patents and numerous international patents and trademarks protecting its core technologies and product brands.
