What Bancorp, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

The Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: TBBK) operates as a Delaware financial holding company with its primary subsidiary, The Bancorp Bank, National Association, a federally chartered commercial bank headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The company's website is www.thebancorp.com.

The Bancorp pursues a distinctive fintech-focused business strategy organized around two primary divisions: Fintech Solutions and Credit Solutions. The Fintech Solutions segment partners with fintech companies and technology-focused payment providers to deliver payment, deposit, and sponsored lending products. This division generates substantial non-interest income through program sponsorship of debit, credit, and prepaid cards; payment processing services including ACH and real-time payment solutions; and sponsored lending products. As of December 31, 2025, fintech solutions sourced 91 percent of total deposits, with prepaid and debit card gross dollar volume reaching $178.21 billion. Fintech fee income totaled $141.1 million for 2025.

The Credit Solutions segment offers specialty lending products across multiple markets: real estate bridge lending representing 31 percent of the loan portfolio, institutional banking including securities-backed lines of credit representing 27 percent, small business lending at 14 percent, and direct lease financing at 9 percent. Fintech loans comprise an additional 15 percent of the portfolio following significant growth since late 2024.

The company maintains a total loan portfolio of approximately $7.3 billion and manages deposits primarily sourced from fintech partnerships, which provide stable, lower-cost funding deployed into specialty lending activities. The Bancorp deliberately maintains assets below $10 billion to preserve regulatory benefits under the Durbin Amendment and maintain operational flexibility.

As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 733 full-time employees. The organization emphasizes infrastructure investment, automation, and artificial intelligence tools to enhance operational efficiency and support continued growth. The Bancorp competes with banking-as-a-service providers, traditional banks, and specialized lenders across its various business segments, differentiating itself through partner relationships, product scope, regulatory compliance capabilities, and platform reliability.
