What Better Home & Finance Holding Co does

In the company’s own words

Better Home & Finance Holding Company (NASDAQ: BETR) operates as a technology-enabled homeownership platform designed to simplify and digitize the residential mortgage and related financial services industry. The company's website is www.better.com.

The company provides a comprehensive suite of homeownership products and services spanning the entire lifecycle of property ownership, including mortgage origination for home purchases and refinances, home equity lines of credit, and complementary services through its Better Plus offering. Better Home & Finance originates residential mortgage loans conforming to the standards of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as Federal Housing Administration-insured loans, Department of Veterans Affairs-guaranteed loans, and jumbo loans. The company manufactures loans for sale into a network of secondary market purchasers rather than retaining them on its balance sheet.

The company's proprietary technology platform, Tinman, serves as the backbone of its operations, integrating customer-facing applications with internal operational tools and third-party systems to automate and streamline mortgage origination workflows. Tinman incorporates artificial intelligence and automation capabilities, including a voice-based AI assistant called Betsy that helps customers with mortgage applications. The platform aggregates customer and property data, applies automated decisioning logic, and orchestrates underwriting, processing, and closing activities.

Better Home & Finance reaches customers through two primary distribution channels: direct-to-consumer digital marketing under the Better brand, and a platform channel serving third-party strategic partners and in-market originations. The company also offers technology licensing arrangements through its Tinman AI Platform, allowing partners to integrate the technology into their existing operations.

As of December 31, 2025, the company employed approximately 1,329 team members across the United States, India, and the United Kingdom. For the year ended December 31, 2025, the company generated funded loan volume of $4.7 billion and revenue of $164.9 million. The company also maintains operations in the United Kingdom through its subsidiary Birmingham Bank, though it is in the process of exiting non-core international operations.
