What BK Technologies Corp does

In the company’s own words

BK Technologies Corporation (NYSE American: BKTI) is a holding company that operates through its subsidiary BK Technologies, Inc. to design, manufacture, and market public safety grade communications products and services for first responders and government agencies. The company maintains its principal executive offices in West Melbourne, Florida and operates its website at www.bktechnologies.com.

With over 70 years in business, BK Technologies operates two primary product groups. The Radio segment designs and manufactures two-way land mobile radios (LMRs) in both portable handheld and vehicle-mounted configurations. These products operate in Project 25 (P25) digital and analog modes across VHF, UHF, and 700-800 MHz frequency bands. The company's BKR and legacy KNG series radios serve government markets including emergency response, public safety, homeland security, and military customers at federal, state, and municipal levels, as well as industrial and commercial enterprises. The Solutions segment focuses on innovative smartphone applications and products operating over public cellular networks under the BK ONE brand, including InteropONE, a push-to-talk-over-cellular service; LocateONE, a real-time personnel and asset tracking solution; and RelayONE, a portable repeater kit for extending range and facilitating interoperability.

As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 120 full-time and part-time employees, with 41 dedicated to engineering and product development, 39 in customer service and distribution, 21 in sales and marketing, 13 in administrative functions, and 6 in manufacturing support. The company maintains a hybrid manufacturing strategy combining internal Florida-based production with contract manufacturing arrangements to optimize quality and cost efficiency.

Sales to the U.S. Government represented approximately 29 percent of total revenues for 2025, with customers including the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, U.S. Forest Service, and Department of Interior. The company competes primarily against larger suppliers, particularly Motorola Solutions, by emphasizing product quality, competitive pricing, and customer responsiveness. BK Technologies holds five U.S. patents in force with additional pending applications and maintains registered trademarks for BK Technologies, BK Radio, BK ONE, BKRplay, and Radios for Heroes.
