In the company’s own words
BlueLinx Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BXC) operates as a leading wholesale distributor of residential and commercial building products across the United States. The company maintains its corporate headquarters near Atlanta, Georgia, and can be found online at www.BlueLinxCo.com.
The company functions as a two-step distributor, purchasing products from manufacturers and distributing them to dealers and other suppliers in local markets who then sell to end users. BlueLinx carries a broad portfolio of branded and private-label stock keeping units across two principal product categories. Specialty products, representing approximately 69 percent of net sales, include engineered wood products, siding, millwork, outdoor living products, specialty lumber and panels, and industrial products. Structural products, comprising approximately 31 percent of net sales, include lumber, plywood, oriented strand board, rebar, and remesh. The company distributes products through three main channels: warehouse sales, reload sales, and direct sales, with warehouse and reload sales accounting for approximately 81 percent of net sales.
BlueLinx operates branches in 57 cities across all 50 U.S. states, supported by multiple warehouse and storage facilities that enhance distribution and storage capacity. The company employs approximately 2,160 associates, with less than one percent employed on a part-time basis. Approximately 21 percent of associates are represented by various local labor unions.
The company supplies products to a broad customer base including national home centers, pro dealers, cooperatives, specialty distributors, and regional and local dealers. Major suppliers include Allura, Arauco, Fiberon, Georgia-Pacific, Huber Engineered Woods, Louisiana-Pacific, Oldcastle APG, Ply Gem, Roseburg, and Westlake Royal. BlueLinx provides value-added services including less-than-truckload delivery, job site delivery, inventory stocking, electronic data interchange ordering, intermodal distribution services, milling and fabrication, and take-off services.
During the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, BlueLinx acquired Disdero Lumber Co. LLC, a value-added distributor specializing in premium specialty building materials including decking, trim, flooring, and paneling. This acquisition strengthened the company's specialty product offerings and expanded market penetration in the Pacific Northwest.
