In the company’s own words
Cadrenal Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CADL) is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company advancing novel therapies for life-threatening immune and thrombotic conditions. The company transitioned its primary strategic focus following its December 2025 acquisition of a 12-lipoxygenase (12-LOX) platform of assets from Veralox Therapeutics Inc.
The company's lead product candidate, CAD-1005, is a first-in-class selective 12-LOX inhibitor being developed to treat heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), a deadly immune-mediated thrombotic disorder. CAD-1005 has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials involving more than 100 healthy volunteers and a Phase 2 blinded, placebo-controlled study of 24 patients. The company completed an End-of-Phase 2 meeting with the FDA on March 26, 2026, clarifying a potential registrational path for a planned Phase 3 pivotal trial. CAD-1005 has received orphan drug designation from the FDA for HIT prophylaxis, FDA Fast Track designation for HIT treatment and prevention, and orphan designation from the European Medicines Agency.
Beyond its lead program, Cadrenal's pipeline includes tecarfarin, a novel reversible vitamin K antagonist designed as a warfarin replacement for patients with complex needs, particularly those with end-stage kidney disease or left ventricular assist devices. Tecarfarin has been evaluated in eleven human clinical trials involving over 1,000 individuals and holds FDA orphan drug and Fast Track designations. The company also develops frunexian, a first-in-class intravenous Factor XIa inhibitor designed for acute care settings.
The 12-LOX platform offers potential applications across multiple therapeutic areas including acute indications such as ischemia-reperfusion injury and acute kidney injury, as well as chronic conditions including diabetes, atherosclerosis, and heart failure. In March 2025, Cadrenal announced a collaboration agreement with Abbott Global Enterprises Limited to support development of tecarfarin in HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device patients.
As a clinical development biopharmaceutical company, Cadrenal operates with a limited operating history and has not yet commercialized any products. The company is classified as a smaller reporting company and emerging growth company under SEC regulations.
