What CAPRICOR THERAPEUTICS, INC. does

In the company’s own words

Capricor Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CAPR) is a biotechnology company focused on developing cell and exosome-based therapeutics for treating rare genetic disorders and diseases with significant unmet medical needs. The company's website is www.capricor.com.

The company's lead product candidate is Deramiocel, a cell therapy comprised of cardiosphere-derived cells isolated from donated human hearts, designed to address both cardiac and skeletal muscle complications associated with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Deramiocel operates through immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic and anti-fibrotic mechanisms distinct from mutation-targeted approaches. A Biologics License Application for Deramiocel in DMD is under FDA review with a Prescription Drug User Fee Act target action date of August 22, 2026. In December 2025, the company announced positive topline results from its Phase 3 HOPE-3 trial, demonstrating statistical significance on the primary endpoint of Performance of the Upper Limb and the key secondary cardiac endpoint of left ventricular ejection fraction.

Beyond Deramiocel, Capricor is advancing its StealthX exosome platform technology, which leverages engineered extracellular vesicles for vaccine and therapeutic development. The company is developing an exosome-based vaccine candidate targeting SARS-CoV-2 through a Phase 1 clinical study conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as part of Project NextGen. The company is also exploring engineered exosomes for targeted delivery of RNA, proteins and small molecules across various therapeutic applications.

Capricor maintains two manufacturing facilities for Deramiocel production, with its primary facility located in San Diego, California, designed to comply with FDA and European Medicines Agency requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practice standards. The company has established strategic partnerships including exclusive distribution agreements with Nippon Shinyaku for the United States and Japan, and a binding term sheet for European commercialization. Capricor holds exclusive license agreements for intellectual property related to cardiosphere-derived cells and exosome technology from Johns Hopkins University, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Università Degli Studi Di Roma La Sapienza. Since inception, the company has received approximately $600 million in funding through equity financings, strategic collaborations, grants and government-supported programs.
