What ClearPoint Neuro, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

ClearPoint Neuro, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLPT) is a commercial-stage medical device company that develops and commercializes integrated systems for minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures. Founded in 1998, the company operates through two integrated business components: medical devices for neurosurgical applications and partnerships in the biologics and drug delivery space.

The company's primary product, the ClearPoint system, is an integrated platform comprising hardware components, disposable components, and software that guides physicians in surgical planning, device alignment, navigation, and procedure monitoring. The ClearPoint system targets and guides the insertion of deep brain stimulation electrodes, biopsy needles, and laser catheters, as well as the infusion of pharmaceuticals into the brain. Originally designed for use in MRI settings, the platform has expanded to support operating room procedures through products including the SmartFrame Array Neuro Navigation System and the SmartFrame OR Stereotactic System. The company also commercializes the ClearPoint Prism Neuro Laser Therapy System for laser ablation applications.

In 2025, ClearPoint Neuro expanded its portfolio through the acquisition of IRRAS Holdings, Inc., adding the IRRAflow Active Fluid Exchange System to serve the neurocritical care market. The IRRAflow system integrates continuous irrigation, drainage, and real-time intracranial pressure monitoring for controlled intracranial fluid management in intensive care units and operating rooms.

The biologics and drug delivery segment provides consulting services and products to pharmaceutical and biotech companies developing gene and cell therapies for neurological conditions. The company maintains commercial relationships with over 60 pharma, biotech, academic, and contract research organization partners. In 2024, the FDA granted marketing authorization for the SmartFlow Neuro cannula for delivering gene therapy for AADC deficiency treatment.

ClearPoint Neuro's business model emphasizes recurring revenue from disposable components while strategically pricing reusable components to secure hospital installations. The company manufactures products at facilities in Carlsbad and San Diego, California, and maintains an intellectual property portfolio including over 130 issued patents. The company's website is www.clearpointneuro.com.
