The company designs, manufactures, and sells high-performance material solutions for global customers across diverse markets including transportation, energy, automotive, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, and defense. CPS possesses significant proprietary expertise in metal matrix composites (MMCs), custom-engineered materials that combine metals and ceramics to deliver superior performance properties including improved thermal conductivity, stiffness, durability, lighter weight, and thermal expansion matching. The company's MMC products are used in high-speed trains, mass transit systems, HVDC power systems, electrical infrastructure, internet equipment, electric and hybrid vehicles, wind turbines, satellites, and NASA Mars rovers.
The company operates three primary business segments. Metal Matrix Composites represent the largest segment, producing custom AlSiC components for thermal management applications, particularly baseplates and heat spreaders for power semiconductors in motor control modules. Hermetic Packaging products serve high-reliability communications and power modules for avionics and satellite applications, including GPS systems and housings for high-performance microprocessors. HybridTech Armor products utilize MMC technology to deliver lightweight, high-strength ballistic protection for defense applications, including crew-served weapons stations on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.
In 2025, approximately 81 percent of revenues derived from commercial applications and 19 percent from defense-related applications. The company's three largest customers accounted for 39 percent, 13 percent, and 12 percent of revenues respectively.
