Founded in 1968 in Brookings, South Dakota, Daktronics operates a vertically integrated business model encompassing marketing and sales, engineering and product design, manufacturing, installation, and customer support. The company serves a diverse global customer base ranging from local businesses and government agencies to premier professional sports venues and out-of-home advertising companies.
Daktronics' product portfolio includes video displays and video walls, sports scoreboard solutions, LED message displays, intelligent transportation system dynamic message signs, mass transit displays, sound systems, digital billboards, digital street furniture, fuel price displays, and indoor dynamic messaging systems. The company also develops control systems and software platforms, including the Venus Control Suite, All Sport Scoring Solutions, Show Control, and Camino graphics engine, which manage and drive display operations.
The company operates five reportable business segments: four domestic units covering Commercial, Live Events, High School Park and Recreation, and Transportation markets in the United States and Canada, plus an International segment. Manufacturing operations are located in South Dakota, Minnesota, Ireland, and China, with plans to open a facility in Mexico during fiscal 2027. Approximately eighty percent of manufactured output comes from United States facilities.
