Delek US Holdings, Inc.
Ticker: DKEnergyPetroleum RefiningThe business
Delek US Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: DK) operates as an integrated downstream energy business focused on petroleum refining and the transportation, storage, and wholesale distribution of crude oil and refined products. The company's website is www.DelekUS.com.
The company operates through two primary reportable segments: refining and logistics. The refining segment owns and operates four independent refineries with a combined crude throughput capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. These facilities are located in Tyler, Texas; El Dorado, Arkansas; Big Spring, Texas; and Krotz Springs, Louisiana, all situated in the Gulf Coast Region. The refineries process light sweet and medium sour crude oil to produce transportation fuels including gasoline, distillate, and jet fuel, along with residual products such as asphalt and roofing flux. The refining segment also includes three biodiesel facilities with 40 million gallons of annual capacity, though these were idled in 2024 while the company explores alternatives.
The logistics segment operates approximately 1,326 miles of crude oil and refined products pipeline, nine light product distribution terminals, and approximately 11.3 million barrels of active storage capacity. The segment also manages approximately 310,000 barrels per day of water disposal capacity and 195 million cubic feet per day of gas processing capacity. The company maintains a 63.3 percent limited partner interest in Delek Logistics Partners, LP, a publicly traded master limited partnership formed in 2012.
Delek's integrated business model provides competitive advantages through optimized crude oil sourcing, flexible refinery operations, and diversified product distribution networks. The company sources approximately 228,000 barrels per day of crude oil priced as a differential to West Texas Intermediate crude oil. Recent strategic acquisitions have expanded the company's footprint, including the 2022 acquisition of Delaware Gathering operations in New Mexico and the 2024 acquisitions of H2O Midstream and Gravity Water operations, which enhanced water disposal and recycling capabilities in the Permian Basin and Bakken regions. In September 2024, the company divested its retail stores segment to focus on its core refining and logistics operations.
