Fifth District Savings Bank is a federally chartered savings bank operating seven branch locations across Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany Parishes in the New Orleans-Metairie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The bank's core business centers on residential mortgage lending, which comprises approximately 86 percent of its loan portfolio. The institution originates and retains fixed-rate one-to-four family residential mortgage loans with terms of ten or fifteen years, typically limiting loan-to-value ratios to eighty percent of property value.
Beyond residential mortgages, Fifth District offers construction and land development loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, commercial real estate loans, commercial and industrial loans, and consumer loans. The bank supplements its origination activities by purchasing commercial and industrial loans from Bankers Healthcare Group and acquiring fully guaranteed portions of U.S. government agency loans from other financial institutions. The company maintains a conservative lending philosophy, declining to offer adjustable-rate mortgages, interest-only loans, negative amortization products, or subprime residential loans.
On the deposit side, Fifth District gathers funds through savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit, with certificates of deposit representing approximately sixty-one percent of total deposits. The bank emphasizes personalized customer service and community relationships to attract and retain local deposits while offering electronic banking services including mobile banking, online banking, and bill pay functionality.
As of December 31, 2025, Fifth District Bancorp maintained total assets of $534.4 million, loans of $376.4 million, deposits of $393.2 million, and stockholders' equity of $129.8 million. The company employs sixty-six full-time employees and one part-time employee. Fifth District became a stock form organization through conversion on July 31, 2024, selling 5.5 million shares at ten dollars per share to fund operations and capital requirements.
