What FRIEDMAN INDUSTRIES INC does

In the company’s own words

Friedman Industries, Incorporated (Nasdaq: FRD) is a manufacturer and processor of metals operating through two primary reportable segments: flat-roll products and tubular products. The company operates a diversified geographic footprint with multiple processing facilities strategically located across the United States to serve regional markets efficiently.

The flat-roll products segment operates six processing facilities located in Hickman, Arkansas; Decatur, Alabama; Miami, Florida; East Chicago, Indiana; Granite City, Illinois; and Sinton, Texas, along with a distribution facility in Orlando, Florida. These facilities are equipped with temper mills, cut-to-length lines, stretcher levelers, corrective leveling equipment, and coil slitting capabilities. The segment can process sheet and plate materials ranging from 30 gauge to 1 inch thick in widths from 11 inches to 96 inches wide, as well as slit coil from 32 gauge to 10 gauge in widths from half inch to 60 inches wide. The Granite City facility includes a fiber laser for further processing flat-roll products into customer parts. The flat-roll segment generates revenue primarily from sales of company-owned inventory, with additional revenue from fee-based processing and storage of customer-owned materials.

The tubular products segment operates Texas Tubular Products division in Lone Star, Texas, which runs two electric resistance welded pipe mills producing pipe with outside diameters ranging from 2 3/8 inches to 8 5/8 inches. Both mills are American Petroleum Institute licensed to manufacture line pipe, oil country pipe, and structural pipe meeting recognized industry standards.

The company serves approximately 1,160 customers in the flat-roll segment and approximately 80 customers in the tubular segment, primarily metals distributors and manufacturers of metal buildings, railcars, heavy equipment, tanks, containers, trailers, and fabricated metal products. In fiscal 2026, the company achieved record annual sales and completed the acquisition of Century Metals & Supplies, which expanded flat-roll processing capabilities and geographic reach.
