Horace Mann Educators Corporation (NYSE: HMN) is an insurance holding company and the largest multiline financial services company focused exclusively on serving America's educators and others who work in their communities. Founded in 1945 by two school teachers in Springfield, Illinois, the company has evolved from providing automobile insurance to educators into a comprehensive financial services provider offering personal protection, retirement solutions, and employee benefits.

The company operates through three primary business segments. The Property & Casualty segment provides private passenger auto insurance, residential homeowners insurance, and personal umbrella coverage, with 326,040 auto risks and 163,711 property risks in force as of year-end 2025. The Life & Retirement segment markets 403(b) tax-qualified annuities, life insurance products, and retirement administration services, with $5.9 billion in accumulated annuity cash value on deposit and $21.5 billion in life insurance in force. The Supplemental & Group Benefits segment offers employer-sponsored group coverage including disability, life, accident, and critical illness insurance, along with individual supplemental products, serving 275,183 supplemental policies and 874,556 group covered lives.

The company maintains a differentiated omni-channel distribution model combining exclusive agents with local market expertise, broker partnerships for employer-sponsored solutions, digital platforms, and a centralized Coverage Consultation Center. This integrated approach provides educators with choice while enabling consistent service delivery across geographically diverse markets. Horace Mann maintains business-to-business relationships with more than half of U.S. K-12 school districts and has local agent representation in over 60 percent of its operating territories.

As of December 31, 2025, the company employed approximately 1,800 people across offices in Springfield, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Madison, Wisconsin; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; and throughout the United States as part of its remote workforce. The company's geographic footprint spans 49 states and the District of Columbia, with significant presence in California, Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Georgia. Notable acquisitions include NTA Life Enterprises in 2019 and Madison National Life Insurance Company in 2022, which expanded the company's product offerings and market reach.
