What Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. is an international offshore energy services company providing specialty services to the offshore energy industry with a focus on well intervention, robotics, and decommissioning operations. The company maintains its website at www.helixesg.com.

The company operates through four reportable business segments. The Well Intervention segment provides services enabling customers to safely access subsea offshore wells for production enhancement or decommissioning operations, utilizing purpose-built vessels including the Q4000, Q5000, Q7000, Seawell, and Well Enhancer, along with chartered vessels and specialized intervention equipment. The Robotics segment provides trenching, seabed clearance, offshore construction, and inspection, repair and maintenance services to both oil and gas and renewable energy markets, operating 39 work-class remotely operated vehicles, six trenchers, and three boulder grabs. In 2025, renewable energy contracts accounted for 49 percent of global Robotics segment revenues. The Shallow Water Abandonment segment, which includes the Helix Alliance acquisition from 2022, provides decommissioning and reclamation services in the Gulf of America shelf with a fleet including nine liftboats, six offshore supply vessels, three dive support vessels, and specialized abandonment systems. The Production Facilities segment includes the Helix Producer I, a floating production vessel processing oil and natural gas from the Phoenix field, and the Helix Fast Response System for well control response.

As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 2,212 people across operations in the Gulf of America, Brazil, North Sea, West Africa, and Asia Pacific regions. The company served over 80 customers in 2025, with major customers including Shell and Petrobras. Shell represented 18 percent of consolidated revenues and Petrobras represented 10 percent in 2025.

Helix's services support global energy transition by maximizing production from existing oil and gas reserves, enabling responsible decommissioning of end-of-life fields, and supporting renewable energy development. The company's competitive advantages include specialized vessel capabilities, lower operating costs relative to drilling rigs, rapid mobilization capabilities, and integrated service offerings combining marine access with advanced subsea technologies.
