What HUDSON TECHNOLOGIES INC does

In the company’s own words

Hudson Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: HDSN) operates as a refrigerant services company providing comprehensive solutions across the refrigeration industry. The company maintains its website at www.hudsontech.com and operates through a single reportable segment focused on environmental sustainability and circular economy principles.

The company's core business encompasses refrigerant and industrial gas sales, refrigerant management services, and proprietary on-site RefrigerantSide® Services. Hudson sells both reclaimed and virgin refrigerants, including hydrofluoro-olefin (HFO) and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) products, to commercial, industrial, and governmental customers as well as wholesalers, distributors, and equipment manufacturers. The reclamation process allows refrigerants to be recovered and reused, eliminating the need for destruction or new manufacturing while protecting the environment from atmospheric release and ozone depletion.

RefrigerantSide® Services represent a differentiated offering combining system decontamination, refrigerant recovery, and proprietary diagnostic tools. The company's SmartEnergy OPS® system provides web-based real-time monitoring for chiller plant efficiency, while Chiller Chemistry® and ChillSmart® offerings deliver predictive maintenance capabilities. Hudson also participates in carbon offset project creation and monetization through verified emission reductions protocols.

The company operates key reclamation and processing facilities in Champaign, Illinois; Smyrna, Georgia; and Ontario, California, along with smaller service depots and sales offices across multiple locations. As of February 2026, Hudson employed 281 full-time personnel including technicians, chemists, engineers, and administrative staff. The company maintains two of only four AHRI-certified refrigerant testing laboratories in the United States.

Hudson holds several U.S. and foreign patents covering RefrigerantSide® Services and refrigerant recycling technologies, with patent protection extending through 2036. The company's business is substantially dependent on the United States Defense Logistics Agency, which accounted for approximately 15 percent of revenues in 2025. Hudson competes primarily on equipment performance, service breadth, and pricing within a competitive market featuring numerous regional and national competitors.
