Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) is a global manufacturer of diversified organic chemical products serving industrial and building product manufacturers across more than 90 countries. The company operates through three reportable segments: Polyurethanes, Performance Products, and Advanced Materials, generating revenues of approximately $5.7 billion. Huntsman International LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary formed in 1999, serves as the principal operating company.
The Polyurethanes segment is a leading global producer of MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate), polyols, and TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), with applications in rigid and flexible foams, coatings, adhesives, and elastomers used in construction, automotive, and footwear industries. The company operates world-scale MDI production facilities in Louisiana, the Netherlands, and China, along with 21 downstream systems houses and specialty formulation facilities globally. Huntsman Building Solutions manufactures spray polyurethane foam insulation systems for residential and commercial applications.
The Performance Products segment manufactures amines and maleic anhydride across nine facilities in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The company holds leading positions as the largest global producer of polyetheramines, the largest producer of ethyleneamines, and the second-largest producer of maleic anhydride globally. These chemicals serve fuel additives, paints and coatings, composites, gas treatment, and semiconductor cleaning applications.
The Advanced Materials segment produces technologically-advanced epoxy, phenoxy, acrylic, polyurethane, and acrylonitrile-butadiene-based polymers and carbon nanomaterials for aerospace, automotive, electrical infrastructure, coatings, and general industrial applications. The company operates synthesis and formulation facilities across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America, serving over 1,700 customers with branded products including ARALDITE®, EPIBOND®, and MIRALON®.
Huntsman employs approximately 6,000 associates globally, with roughly 2,000 in the United States and 4,000 internationally. The company maintains approximately 2,140 unexpired patents and 950 pending patent applications. Founded in 1970 as a packaging materials company, Huntsman transformed through strategic acquisitions and divestitures, completing the sale of its Textile Effects Business in 2023.
