What Ibotta, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Ibotta, Inc. (NYSE: IBTA) operates the Ibotta Performance Network, a digital promotions platform that connects consumer packaged goods brands, retailers, and consumers through a coordinated ecosystem of owned and third-party publisher properties. The company's website is www.ibotta.com.
The core business model centers on delivering digital promotions to consumers on a success-based, fee-per-redemption basis. Ibotta sources exclusive digital offers from over 900 clients representing more than 3,100 CPG brands, primarily in grocery and general merchandise categories including toys, clothing, beauty, electronics, pet, and home goods. These offers are distributed across Ibotta's direct-to-consumer properties—a mobile app with over 54 million registered users, a website, and a browser extension—as well as through strategic partnerships with major third-party publishers including Walmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Instacart, and DoorDash.
The company's technology platform processes item-level consumer purchase data to match offers to qualifying products, manage campaign budgets, and track redemptions. In 2025, Ibotta introduced LiveLift, an advanced measurement and optimization solution providing clients with sophisticated projections and profitability metrics including incremental sales and cost-per-incremental-dollar calculations. The platform leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to predict campaign performance and optimize offer distribution.
Ibotta's flywheel model creates network effects where increased offer supply attracts more consumers, larger consumer audiences attract additional client investment, and expanded redemption data improves campaign optimization. Publishers benefit from Ibotta's white-label technology and rewards-as-service platform, handling offer sourcing, purchase verification, and program logistics while maintaining their own brand relationships with consumers.
The company has distributed approximately $2.7 billion in cash back to redeemers to date. As of December 31, 2025, Ibotta employed approximately 800 full-time employees. The business operates in the U.S. market, where consumers historically spend over $1 trillion annually in the grocery sector and CPG brands spend approximately $200 billion combined on marketing and trade promotions annually.
