What Inogen Inc does
In the company’s own words
Inogen, Inc. (NASDAQ: INGN) is a medical technology company focused on respiratory health that develops, manufactures, and markets innovative respiratory products for patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The company's website is www.inogen.com.
The company's core business centers on portable oxygen concentrators, or POCs, which allow patients requiring long-term oxygen therapy to maintain mobility and independence. Inogen's primary POC product lines include the Inogen One and Inogen Rove systems, which use proprietary pulse-dose technology and Intelligent Delivery Technology to deliver supplemental oxygen. These devices can operate on battery power or be plugged into outlets, reducing patient dependence on stationary concentrators and scheduled oxygen tank deliveries.
Beyond portable concentrators, Inogen has expanded its respiratory portfolio through several strategic initiatives. The company acquired Physio-Assist in September 2023, adding the Simeox airway clearance device to its offerings, which received FDA clearance in December 2024 for treating conditions like bronchiectasis. In January 2025, Inogen entered a strategic collaboration with Yuwell that enabled the company to begin distributing the Inogen Voxi 5 stationary oxygen concentrator and Aurora CPAP masks in the United States.
For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, Inogen generated approximately $209.8 million in United States revenue and approximately $139.2 million in international revenue. Within the U.S. market, revenue comprised approximately 45.1% from traditional home medical equipment providers and distributors, 29.5% from direct-to-consumer sales, and 25.4% from direct-to-consumer rentals. Approximately 61.9% of rental revenue derived from Medicare's traditional fee-for-service reimbursement programs.
Inogen operates manufacturing facilities in Plano, Texas for oxygen concentrators and in Montpelier, France for Simeox devices. The company maintains a European customer support site in the Netherlands and uses a contract manufacturer in the Czech Republic for European production. As of December 31, 2025, Inogen employed approximately 314 people in U.S. sales and marketing, 178 in operations and manufacturing, and 29 research and development engineers and scientists. The company holds 96 issued patents and maintains trademark registrations across numerous countries globally.
