What INSTEEL INDUSTRIES INC does

In the company’s own words

Insteel Industries Inc. (NYSE: IIIN) is the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. The company operates through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Insteel Wire Products Company, and manufactures two primary product lines: prestressed concrete strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement, and standard welded wire reinforcement. These products are sold primarily to manufacturers of concrete products used in nonresidential and residential construction, with approximately 85 percent of sales related to nonresidential construction and 15 percent related to residential construction during fiscal 2025.

The company operates eleven manufacturing facilities located across the United States in Dayton, Texas; Gallatin, Tennessee; Hazleton, Pennsylvania; Hickman, Kentucky; Houston, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Kingman, Arizona; Mount Airy, North Carolina; Sanderson, Florida; St. Joseph, Missouri; and Upper Sandusky, Ohio. As of September 27, 2025, Insteel employed 1,007 people, all located in the United States. The company maintains a national sales footprint and sells its products to a broad range of customers including concrete product manufacturers, distributors, rebar fabricators, and contractors, with no single customer representing more than 10 percent of net sales.

Insteel's business strategy emphasizes achieving leadership positions in its markets, operating as the lowest-cost producer in the industry, and pursuing organic growth opportunities and strategic acquisitions. The company recently expanded its welded wire reinforcement capabilities through the acquisitions of Engineered Wire Products, Inc. in October 2024 and O'Brien Wire Products of Texas, Inc. in November 2024. The primary raw material used in manufacturing is hot-rolled carbon steel wire rod, sourced from both domestic and foreign suppliers. More information is available at https://investor.insteel.com.
