The company develops and produces RFID inlays, tags, and labels that enable physical objects with digital identities, allowing customers to track, monitor, authenticate, and engage with products throughout their lifecycles. These devices have been integrated into more than 1.5 billion applications globally. Identiv's technology portfolio includes patented designs such as tag-on-metal solutions and capabilities across near field communication (NFC), high frequency (HF), dual frequency (DF), and ultra-high frequency (UHF) technologies, complemented by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and multi-component platforms.
The company operates through a channel-based go-to-market strategy, selling primarily through RFID converters, system integrators, and solution providers who serve original equipment manufacturers. Identiv's growth strategy, launched in 2024 under the framework "Perform, Accelerate, Transform," focuses on strengthening its core channel business while pursuing accelerated growth in healthcare applications, consumer and logistics segments, and BLE technology expansion. Healthcare priorities include medication adherence for drug delivery devices, consumable authentication for medical devices, and condition monitoring for biologics. The company recently announced a multi-year exclusive supply agreement with IFCO for smart BLE labels on reusable packaging containers.
Identiv maintains research and development facilities in Germany and Southeast Asia, with its primary manufacturing facility located in Thailand. The company operates local sales and operations offices in Germany and the United States. As of December 31, 2025, Identiv employed 155 people across research and development, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and general administrative functions.
In September 2024, the company completed the sale of its physical security, access card, and identity reader operations to focus exclusively on its IoT business. The company was founded in 1990 in Munich, Germany and incorporated in Delaware in 1996.
