What Longeveron Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Longeveron Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing regenerative medicines to address unmet medical needs. The company's lead investigational product candidate is laromestrocel, a proprietary, scalable, allogeneic cellular therapy derived from human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells that operates through pro-vascular, pro-regenerative, and anti-inflammatory mechanisms to promote tissue repair and healing.

Founded in 2014, Longeveron focuses on advancing laromestrocel across four potential indications: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Alzheimer's disease, pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy, and aging-related frailty. The company has completed five U.S. clinical studies and currently maintains one fully enrolled ongoing trial, ELPIS II Phase 2b for HLHS, which reached full enrollment in June 2025 with anticipated top-line results in the third quarter of 2026. For Alzheimer's disease, laromestrocel received Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and Fast Track designation from the FDA following positive Phase 2a results from the CLEAR MIND trial. The pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy IND became effective in July 2025, with plans for a Phase 2 pivotal registrational trial beginning in 2027.

Longeveron operates a current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) facility in Miami, Florida, consisting of approximately 4,150 square feet with eight ISO 7 cleanrooms and supporting research and development laboratories. The company manufactures laromestrocel for early-phase clinical trials and has strategically decided to pursue commercial manufacturing through a third-party contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) rather than expanding its existing facility. The company maintains supply contracts with multiple third-party tissue suppliers for fresh bone marrow sourcing.

The company's intellectual property portfolio includes company-owned and in-licensed patents and patent applications covering cell-based therapy applications across multiple jurisdictions. Longeveron received WHO adoption of the international nonproprietary name "laromestrocel" in February 2025. The company also operates a registry trial in The Bahamas under regulatory approval from the National Longevity and Regenerative Therapy Ethics Review Committee, which permits laromestrocel administration to eligible participants at private clinics.
