What Lucid Group, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID) is a technology company shaping the future of sustainable mobility through the design, development, and manufacture of advanced electric vehicles and proprietary powertrain systems. The company's website is www.lucidmotors.com.
Lucid manufactures two primary vehicle offerings: the Lucid Air sedan and the Lucid Gravity SUV, both featuring proprietary in-house developed technology including advanced battery systems, integrated electric drive units, and software-defined vehicle architecture. The company is developing a Midsize platform scheduled to begin production in late 2026, targeting higher-volume market segments. Lucid vehicles are assembled at Advanced Manufacturing Plant-1 in Casa Grande, Arizona, which has 90,000 units of annual installed capacity following 2024 expansion activities. The company also operates Advanced Manufacturing Plant-2 in Saudi Arabia, which commenced semi knocked-down assembly operations in 2023 with 5,000 units of annual capacity and is undergoing expansion to add 150,000 units of completely-built-up production capacity.
The company operates a vertically integrated business model encompassing design, engineering, manufacturing, and direct-to-consumer sales through 62 Studios and service centers globally as of December 31, 2025, distributed across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Lucid's competitive strengths include revolutionary powertrain technology delivering industry-leading range and charging speeds, software-defined vehicles with over-the-air update capabilities, and advanced driver assistance systems through its DreamDrive platform.
Beyond vehicle sales, Lucid has established strategic partnerships to expand its technology reach. The company entered the robotaxi market through a partnership with Uber and Nuro announced in 2025, with plans to deploy a minimum of 20,000 autonomous vehicles. Additionally, Lucid supplies powertrain and battery technology to Aston Martin under a strategic technology arrangement established in 2023.
The company is controlled by Ayar Third Investment Company, an affiliate of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which has made significant equity investments through Series A and Series B Redeemable Convertible Preferred Stock purchases. Lucid's technology platform emphasizes vertical integration, in-house innovation, and the proprietary Lucid Space Concept, which enables class-leading interior space within a compact exterior footprint.
