What MapLight Therapeutics, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
MapLight Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapeutics for central nervous system disorders. The company was founded by globally recognized leaders in psychiatry and neuroscience research to address the lack of circuit-specific pharmacotherapies available to patients suffering from debilitating CNS conditions.
MapLight's lead product candidate, ML-007C-MA, is a fixed-dose combination of an M1/M4 muscarinic agonist co-formulated with a peripherally acting anticholinergic designed to activate muscarinic receptors in the brain while mitigating peripheral cholinergic side effects. The company is initially developing ML-007C-MA for schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease psychosis. ML-007 has been evaluated in four Phase 1 trials involving 270 healthy participants with over 1,500 doses administered. The company is conducting ZEPHYR, a Phase 2 trial for schizophrenia expected to reach target enrollment of 300 participants in April 2026 with topline results anticipated in the third quarter of 2026. VISTA, a Phase 2 trial for Alzheimer's disease psychosis, is expected to report results in the second half of 2027. In December 2025, ML-007C-MA received Fast Track designation from the FDA for treating hallucinations and delusions associated with Alzheimer's disease psychosis.
The company's second product candidate, ML-004, is a 5-HT1B/1D agonist in development for social communication deficits and irritability in autism spectrum disorder. MapLight is also advancing multiple preclinical programs including ML-009, a GPR52 positive allosteric modulator for hyperactivity and impulsivity disorders; ML-055, a next-generation M1/M4 muscarinic agonist; and ML-021, an M4 antagonist for Parkinson's disease motor deficits.
MapLight's differentiated approach leverages three core platform technologies: optogenetics to identify disease-related neural circuits, single-cell transcriptomics to identify druggable targets, and STARmap spatial transcriptomics technology. The company retains global development and commercial rights to all programs in its pipeline. MapLight Therapeutics trades on the NASDAQ exchange and maintains its website at www.maplighttherapeutics.com.
