What MasterBrand, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
MasterBrand, Inc. (NASDAQ: MBC) is the largest manufacturer of residential cabinets in North America, operating through its website at masterbrand.com. Founded in 1954 as United Cabinet Incorporated, the company became an independent, publicly-traded entity following a tax-free spin-off from Fortune Brands Innovations in December 2022.
The company manufactures and distributes a comprehensive portfolio of residential cabinetry products for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas of the home across three primary market segments: stock cabinets offering entry-level pricing with standardized components, semi-custom cabinets providing personalized options at moderate price points, and premium cabinetry enabling highly customized designs. MasterBrand's brands include its core cabinet lines along with Dura Supreme and Bertch cabinetry, acquired through the July 2024 acquisition of Supreme Cabinetry Brands.
The company serves the remodeling and new construction markets through three primary distribution channels: an extensive dealer network of over 7,900 cabinet dealers across the United States and Canada, major retailers including Lowe's and Home Depot, and regional and national home builders. Lowe's and Home Depot represented approximately 33 percent of net sales in fiscal 2025, with the ten largest customers generating approximately 50 percent of total net sales.
As of December 28, 2025, MasterBrand employed more than 12,000 full-time and part-time associates, with approximately 81 percent in hourly production and distribution roles and 32 percent working under collective bargaining agreements. The company operates manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Southeast Asia.
MasterBrand's competitive advantages include its scale and volume leadership enabling advantaged cost structures, extensive dealer network providing market reach, decades of operational experience optimizing procurement and manufacturing, and a data-driven operating model called The MasterBrand Way. The company emphasizes continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles, and strategic initiatives focused on product complexity reduction, associate engagement, and digital transformation. In August 2025, MasterBrand announced a definitive merger agreement with American Woodmark Corporation, expected to close in early 2026, further consolidating the residential cabinet market.
