What MAXCYTE, INC. does

In the company’s own words

MaxCyte, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXCT) is a leading commercial cell engineering company focused on providing enabling platform technologies for the discovery, development, and commercialization of next-generation cell therapeutics and cell-based research. The company's website is www.maxcyte.com.

The company's core offering is its proprietary Flow Electroporation technology, which has been developed and refined over more than 25 years. This technology enables the precise introduction of molecules such as genetic material, proteins, mRNA, and siRNA into living cells by applying controlled electric fields to temporarily increase cell membrane permeability. The technology supports applications across the full spectrum of cell therapy development, from early-stage discovery through commercial manufacturing.

MaxCyte markets its technology platform under the ExPERT brand, which comprises five instruments: the DTx for high-throughput research applications, the ATx for small to medium-scale research, the STx for protein production and drug discovery, the GTx for large-scale clinical manufacturing, and the VLx for very large-volume cell engineering. These instruments are complemented by proprietary processing assemblies and consumables including electroporation buffers and software protocols.

The company generates revenue from five primary sources: instrument sales and licenses, processing assembly and consumable sales, annual instrument license fees, precommercial milestone payments, and commercial sales-based payments. As of December 31, 2025, MaxCyte had 33 Strategic Platform License agreements with commercial cell therapy developers, of which 31 were active. One customer had reached the commercial stage while 13 were actively engaged in clinical development. The company's FDA Master File and equivalent technical files have been referenced in over 75 clinical trials to date.

In January 2025, MaxCyte acquired SeQure Dx, a provider of on-target and off-target editing assessment services for cell and gene therapies, expanding its service offerings across the development continuum. As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 91 full-time employees, of whom 50 held advanced degrees including 23 with Ph.D. credentials. The company's intellectual property portfolio includes more than 200 granted U.S. and foreign patents and over 100 pending patent applications worldwide.
