In the company’s own words
Mexco Energy Corporation (NYSE American: MXC) is an independent oil and gas company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas properties located throughout the United States. The company operates through a non-operator model, maintaining interests in approximately 8,100 gross producing oil and gas wells and owning leasehold mineral, royalty, and other interests in approximately 705,000 gross acres across fourteen states.
The company's operations are geographically concentrated in two primary areas within the Permian Basin, which accounts for 75 percent of discounted future net cash flows from proved reserves. The Delaware Basin properties in Lea and Eddy Counties, New Mexico and Reeves and Loving Counties, Texas represent 53 percent of proved reserve value, while the Midland Basin properties across Reagan, Upton, Midland, Martin, Howard, and Glasscock Counties, Texas account for 21 percent. As of March 31, 2026, total estimated proved reserves were approximately 1.437 million barrels of oil equivalent, comprising 46 percent oil and 54 percent natural gas.
Mexco's business model focuses on acquiring proved reserves that complement existing operations, particularly properties containing producing wells, behind-pipe reserves, and high-quality proved undeveloped locations. Oil contributed approximately 81 percent of oil and natural gas sales during fiscal 2026, while revenues from oil and gas royalty interests accounted for approximately 49 percent of total operating revenues. The company maintains a lean operational structure with two full-time and two part-time employees, relying on independent geological, land, and engineering consultants as needed.
Founded in April 1972 as Miller Oil Company and renamed Mexco Energy Corporation in 1980, the company has executed numerous significant acquisitions since 1983, including purchases of royalty interests, working interests, and mineral interests across multiple producing basins.
