What Mission Produce, Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Mission Produce, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVO) is a global leader in the avocado industry, operating through three reportable segments: Marketing & Distribution, International Farming, and Blueberries. The company sources, produces, packs, and distributes avocados primarily of the Hass variety to food retailers, distributors, and produce wholesalers worldwide. Mission Produce maintains its corporate presence at www.missionproduce.com and operates a sophisticated global supply chain designed to deliver consistent quality and availability year-round.

The Marketing & Distribution segment sources fruit from growers and distributes through a global network of strategically located forward distribution centers across North America, China, Europe, and the United Kingdom. These facilities provide value-added services including ripening, bagging, custom packaging, and logistical management. The International Farming segment owns and operates orchards in Peru and Guatemala, with approximately 11,200 acres of avocado plantings in various stages of maturity, alongside limited mango cultivation. The Blueberries segment engages in farming activities in Peru under an exclusive marketing agreement with a single distributor.

As of October 31, 2025, Mission Produce employed approximately 3,800 people globally, with significant concentrations in Peru (2,100 employees), Mexico (800), the United States (500), and Guatemala (300). The company procures avocados principally from California, Mexico, and Peru, with additional sourcing from Colombia, Guatemala, South Africa, Chile, and other locations. This diversified sourcing network mitigates geographic supply disruptions and enables year-round global demand fulfillment.

Mission Produce operates four state-of-the-art packing facilities in Mexico, Peru, and California, complemented by co-packing arrangements. The company's distribution network enables delivery within approximately eight hours or less within the United States. Beyond avocados, Mission Produce offers complementary products including mangos and provides comprehensive value-added services such as custom ripening programs, merchandising support, and category management initiatives. The company maintains registered trademarks including The MISSION & TOWER DESIGN and MISSION PRODUCE. Sales to the top ten customers represented approximately 67 percent of net sales, reflecting the concentrated customer base typical of the produce distribution industry.
