What MNTN, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
MNTN, Inc. (NASDAQ: MNTN) operates at the intersection of performance marketing, traditional television advertising, and connected television (CTV) advertising through its proprietary Performance TV (PTV) software platform. The company's website is located at ir.mountain.com.
MNTN's core business centers on transforming CTV into a next-generation performance marketing channel by enabling marketers to combine television's storytelling format with the targeting, measurement, and attribution capabilities traditionally associated with paid search and social advertising. The company's self-serve software platform allows marketers to precisely target audiences through MNTN Matched technology, set return on ad spend (ROAS) goals, and directly attribute views to purchases or other consumer actions. The platform automates campaign optimization across hundreds of thousands of daily decisions regarding inventory selection, pricing, and placement.
The PTV platform integrates five core functional components: targeting powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, proprietary measurement technology for tracking CTV impressions, attribution capabilities through Verified Visits technology that links internet-connected household devices, automated optimization algorithms, and creative solutions including access to QuickFrame, a marketplace of independent creators acquired in 2021. The platform serves a diversified customer base ranging from small and mid-sized businesses to large enterprises, with approximately ninety-five percent of customers being first-time television advertisers.
MNTN generates revenue through usage-based fees derived from customer advertising spend on the platform. The company sources premium inventory from major television networks including NBC, Paramount, and Fox, as well as through Supply Side Platforms. The business model benefits from a flywheel effect whereby increased customer spending enables preferential inventory pricing negotiations with networks, thereby enhancing customer returns and driving further spending growth.
As of December 31, 2025, MNTN employed 534 full-time team members, with 211 in sales, marketing, and customer success functions and 231 in product development and engineering. The company operates with an entirely remote workforce and experiences seasonal revenue fluctuations, with fourth quarter revenue representing approximately thirty percent of annual revenue due to holiday season advertising activity.
