The company operates across three reportable segments. The Hard Parts segment, which represents the material portion of revenues, includes light-duty rotating electrical products such as alternators and starters, along with brake-related products including calipers, boosters, rotors, pads, master cylinders, and wheel hub assemblies. The Test Solutions and Diagnostic Equipment segment provides bench-top testers for alternators and starters, equipment for electric vehicle pre- and post-production, and software emulation for power system applications across transportation sectors including aerospace. The Heavy Duty segment supplies non-discretionary replacement parts for heavy-duty truck, industrial, marine, and agricultural applications.
Motorcar Parts carries approximately 44,000 stock keeping units and sells products under private label brand names as well as owned brands including Quality-Built, Pure Energy, D&V Electronics, Dixie Electric, and DelStar. The company operates in the $130 billion North American automotive aftermarket for replacement hard parts, the $11 billion global market for automotive test solutions and diagnostic equipment, and the $40 billion market for medium and heavy-duty automotive aftermarket replacement parts.
As of March 31, 2026, the company employed approximately 5,600 people globally, with 300 in the United States, 4,900 in Mexico, 200 in Canada, and 200 in Malaysia and China. Approximately 5,200 employees are production workers. The company operates manufacturing and remanufacturing facilities in Mexico, Canada, Malaysia, and India, along with a 410,000 square foot distribution center in Mexico and a warehouse and distribution center in Malaysia.
The company sells primarily to the largest automotive retail chains including Advance Auto Parts, AutoZone, Genuine Parts (NAPA), and O'Reilly Auto Parts, representing approximately 25,000 retail outlets combined. During fiscal 2026, approximately 99 percent of products were sold in North America. The company was founded in 1968 and acquired D&V Electronics Ltd. in 2017, Mechanical Power Conversion, LLC in 2018, and Dixie Electric, Ltd. in 2019.
