What Neumora Therapeutics, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Neumora Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: NMRA) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing novel therapies for brain and centrally mediated diseases. The company operates through a precision neuroscience approach that combines artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify and monitor targeted patient populations, aiming to accelerate drug discovery and improve treatment outcomes relative to traditional development paradigms.
The company's therapeutic pipeline spans three primary disease areas: neuropsychiatric disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic disorders. Neumora's most advanced program is navacaprant, a once-daily oral kappa opioid receptor antagonist in Phase 3 development for major depressive disorder, with pivotal studies KOASTAL-2 and KOASTAL-3 fully enrolled. The company is also advancing NMRA-511, a vasopressin 1a receptor antagonist for agitation associated with Alzheimer's disease dementia, which demonstrated clinically meaningful effects in Phase 1b studies. Additional pipeline candidates include NMRA-898, an M4 muscarinic receptor positive allosteric modulator for schizophrenia; NMRA-215, an NLRP3 inhibitor for obesity; NMRA-GCase, a glucocerebrosidase activator for Parkinson's disease; and NMRA-CK1δ, a casein kinase inhibitor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Neumora's intellectual property portfolio comprises over 400 patents and pending applications across the United States and foreign jurisdictions, including 51 issued U.S. patents and 153 issued foreign patents. The portfolio encompasses molecule patents covering composition of matter and treatment methods, precision neuroscience process patents covering AI and machine learning algorithms, and biomarker patents for patient identification and treatment.
The company has established strategic licensing agreements with leading research institutions and pharmaceutical companies, including exclusive licenses from Amgen for CK1δ and GCase programs, The Scripps Research Institute for KOR and V1aR programs, and Vanderbilt University for M4 receptor programs. These partnerships provide access to validated drug targets and intellectual property while enabling Neumora to focus resources on clinical development and commercialization.
