What NeuroPace Inc does
In the company’s own words
Neuropace Inc. (NASDAQ: NEOP) is a medical device company focused on transforming the lives of people living with epilepsy through its proprietary RNS System, a brain-responsive neuromodulation platform. The company's website is www.neuropace.com.
The RNS System is the first and only commercially available closed-loop neuromodulation device that continuously monitors and analyzes brain electrical activity, recognizes patient-specific abnormal patterns, and delivers real-time personalized treatment at the seizure source. Unlike competing neuromodulation approaches such as vagus nerve stimulation and deep brain stimulation, the RNS System provides targeted stimulation only when abnormal activity is detected, resulting in approximately three minutes of stimulation per day on average and eliminating stimulation-related side effects. The device also records intracranial electroencephalogram data, enabling clinicians to make more informed treatment decisions and optimize patient care over time.
The RNS System is currently indicated in the United States for use in adults 18 years and older with drug-resistant focal epilepsy, representing an addressable market of approximately 575,000 patients. The company is pursuing FDA approval to expand indications to include patients with drug-resistant idiopathic generalized epilepsy and pediatric patients between ages 12 and 17. As of December 31, 2025, over 8,000 patients have received the RNS System, generating an extensive database of over twenty-two million intracranial EEG records.
Clinical evidence from four multi-center FDA-approved prospective studies demonstrates that the RNS System achieves a 44 percent median reduction in seizure frequency at one year, improving to 75 percent at nine years. Real-world data shows a 67 percent median seizure frequency reduction at one year, increasing to 82 percent by year three. The device has an estimated average battery life of nearly eleven years, creating a recurring revenue stream from replacement procedures.
The company markets its RNS System through a direct sales organization targeting epileptologists and neurosurgeons at comprehensive epilepsy centers and, following 2023 FDA approval of expanded qualification criteria, increasingly to community-based practitioners. Reimbursement is available through established physician and hospital codes, with commercial payors covering over 200 million lives. The company is also exploring international expansion and potential applications in other neurological conditions including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
