What Noble Corp plc does
In the company’s own words
Noble Corporation plc (NYSE: NE) is a leading offshore drilling contractor providing contract drilling services to the international oil and gas industry. The company operates through a single reportable segment, Contract Drilling Services, delivering drilling solutions via a global fleet of mobile offshore drilling units deployed across major offshore oil and gas basins worldwide.
As of December 31, 2025, Noble operates a fleet of 36 drilling rigs consisting of 25 floaters and 11 jackups. The floater fleet comprises 17 drillships capable of operating in water depths up to 12,000 feet and 8 semisubmersible units designed for ultra-deepwater and mid-water drilling. The jackup fleet consists of six high-specification independent leg cantilevered units capable of drilling in up to 500 feet of water. Noble's rigs are deployed across Africa, Far East Asia, the North Sea, Oceania, South America, and the United States Gulf of America.
The company generates revenue primarily through dayrate-based drilling contracts with major integrated oil and gas companies, independent operators, and national oil companies. During 2025, ExxonMobil accounted for 19.7 percent of consolidated operating revenues, with BP, Petrobras, Shell, and TotalEnergies representing additional significant customers. Noble maintains a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees, with roughly 77 percent located offshore, supplemented by approximately 1,400 labor contractors and agency personnel.
Noble completed its acquisition of Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. on September 4, 2024, significantly expanding its fleet and market presence. The company traces its heritage to 1921 and has established itself as an industry leader through its modern, technically advanced fleet and commitment to operational excellence. Noble's competitive positioning is built on one of the youngest and highest-specification fleets globally, diversification across geographic regions and customers, industry-leading utilization rates, and best-in-class safety performance.
