The company maintains its principal website at www.nov.com and employs approximately 31,605 people across 503 physical locations worldwide, including manufacturing plants, research facilities, machine shops, warehouses, and distribution centers.

The Energy Products and Services segment provides critical tools, equipment, and services for upstream oil and gas, renewables, and industrial markets, offering drill bits, downhole tools, completion tools, artificial lift systems, tubular inspection and coating services, solids control and waste management equipment, digital solutions, drill pipe, conductor casing connections, and composite solutions. The Energy Equipment segment designs and builds capital equipment and integrated systems for oil and gas exploration and production, as well as industrial, marine, and renewable energy markets, including drilling equipment, intervention and stimulation equipment, marine and construction solutions, process systems, subsea production systems, production and midstream equipment, and industrial equipment.

NOV operates in 57 countries with approximately 66 percent of revenues derived from non-United States operations. The company's geographic footprint includes significant operations in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the Far East, Canada, and Europe, with employee distribution across the United States (34 percent), Europe (21 percent), Latin America (14 percent), Asia Pacific (13 percent), Middle East and Africa (11 percent), Canada (4 percent), and China (3 percent).

The company maintains a substantial intellectual property portfolio including granted patents, pending patent applications, trademarks, and trade secrets. NOV's business model emphasizes economies of scale in procurement and manufacturing, a global distribution network, reputation and fleet standardization benefits, a large installed base supporting aftermarket services, and capital-light operations with manufacturing flexibility. The company also focuses on digital solutions through its proprietary Max platform and edge devices for real-time data collection and analytics. Additionally, NOV develops low-carbon and renewable energy solutions including offshore wind technologies, geothermal equipment, carbon capture and sequestration systems, and advanced nuclear support services.
