What NVE CORP does
In the company’s own words
NVE Corporation (NASDAQ: NVEC) develops and sells spintronic devices that use electron spin rather than electron charge to acquire, store, and transmit information. The company manufactures high-performance spintronic products including sensors and couplers designed to revolutionize data sensing and transmission. NVE also provides contract research and development services and licenses spintronic magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) technology. The company's website is www.nve.com.
Founded in 1989 by spintronics pioneer James M. Daughton, NVE has received more than fifty million dollars in government research contracts that have supported product development and intellectual property creation. The company went public in 2000 through a reverse merger and achieved NASDAQ listing in 2003. NVE holds more than fifty issued U.S. patents and maintains registered trademarks including "NVE," "IsoLoop," "GMR Switch," and "GT Sensor."
The company's product portfolio spans three primary applications. Sensor products detect magnetic field strength or gradients for position and speed detection, serving markets including industrial Internet of Things and artificial intelligence of Things for factory automation. Custom medical sensors replace electromechanical switches in medical devices, offering advantages including no moving parts, smaller size, and greater sensitivity. Coupler products combine GMR sensor elements with integrated microscopic coils to transmit data while providing electrical isolation, serving power conversion, industrial automation, and energy conversion applications. Power products include voltage regulators, interface integrated circuits, and DC-to-DC converters. MRAM products focus on low bit density applications such as tamper prevention and detection.
NVE operates its own U.S.-based wafer production and testing facilities, providing competitive advantages over competitors that outsource manufacturing. The company maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification and operates as an Approved Place of Manufacture. As of March 31, 2026, NVE employed forty-two people, with forty being full-time employees. The company distributes products through multiple channels including distributors in more than seventy-five countries and private-brand partnerships with large integrated device manufacturers. Abbott Laboratories represents a significant customer. NVE maintains its principal facility in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with a leased space of approximately twenty-one thousand square feet.
