What Outdoor Holding Co does
In the company’s own words
Outdoor Holding Company (NASDAQ: AMMO) operates through its GunBroker online marketplace platform, which serves as a leading e-commerce destination for firearms, ammunition, hunting, shooting sports, and related outdoor products. The company website is outdoorholding.com.
The company's primary business is the GunBroker Marketplace, a peer-to-peer e-commerce platform that facilitates transactions between buyers and sellers while ensuring compliance with federal and state firearms regulations. As of March 31, 2026, the platform had approximately 8.8 million registered users and averaged 4.43 million daily listings. The marketplace does not hold inventory except for branded merchandise and instead connects buyers with sellers through a network of over 32,000 federally licensed firearms dealers who serve as transfer agents for regulated items.
Outdoor Holding Company was founded in 2017 as an ammunition manufacturer and components producer. In 2021, the company acquired GunBroker, which became its primary operating segment. In January 2025, the company made a strategic decision to divest its ammunition manufacturing business to Olin Winchester, LLC for a gross purchase price of $75 million, with net proceeds of approximately $42.9 million after adjustments. This transaction closed on April 18, 2025, allowing the company to focus exclusively on its marketplace operations. The company subsequently changed its name from AMMO, Inc. to Outdoor Holding Company in April 2025.
The company employs 63 people across sales and marketing, software engineering, and corporate functions. It operates as a smaller reporting company and is classified as a non-accelerated filer. The marketplace generates revenue through transaction fees, seller services, and advertising offerings rather than through product sales.
GunBroker's competitive advantages include its specialized focus on firearms and outdoor sports, extensive FFL dealer network, compliance infrastructure, and proprietary marketplace data and analytics. The platform serves a diverse customer base including individual buyers, commercial sellers, retailers, manufacturers, and industry partners. Recent platform enhancements include Master FFL integration for dealer verification, AI-powered listing tools, expanded payment and shipping options, and strengthened security measures including multi-factor authentication.
