What PureCycle Technologies, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
PureCycle Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCYC) operates a patented dissolution recycling technology platform designed to transform polypropylene waste into near-virgin quality recycled resin called PureFive® resin. The company's website is located at https://www.purecycle.com/.
The company is a Florida-based early commercial-stage enterprise focused on commercializing its proprietary Technology, originally developed by Procter & Gamble and licensed globally to PureCycle. The dissolution recycling process uses a combination of solvent, temperature, and pressure to physically separate polypropylene from other plastics, colors, odors, and impurities without altering the polymer's chemical composition. This approach requires significantly less energy than virgin polypropylene production while delivering a product with mechanical properties comparable to virgin resin.
PureCycle's operational footprint includes its first commercial-scale Purification facility located in Lawrence County, Ohio, designed for approximately 107 million pounds of annual production capacity. The company also operates a Feed PreP facility in Denver, Pennsylvania, which collects, sorts, and prepares polypropylene waste feedstock for the recycling process. Additionally, PureCycle maintains a research and development laboratory in Durham, North Carolina focused on advancing process understanding and developing analytical techniques for polymer characterization and process optimization.
The company has announced expansion plans for three additional Purification facilities: a 130 million pound facility in Rayong, Thailand expected operational in late 2027, a 130 million pound facility in Antwerp, Belgium projected for mid-to-late 2028, and a 300 million pound facility in Augusta, Georgia targeted for 2030. PureCycle intends to market PureFive® resin to resin distributors, converters, compounders, and manufacturers across consumer goods, automotive, textiles, and food and beverage industries.
As of December 31, 2025, the company employed 174 team members. PureCycle has received FDA Letters of No Objection permitting its PureFive® resin for food-contact applications across multiple conditions of use. The company has secured regulatory authorization under the European REACH regulation for limited exports and received notification of a €40 million grant from the European Union Innovation Fund to support Belgium Facility construction costs.
