What REGENXBIO Inc. does

In the company’s own words

REGENXBIO Inc. (NASDAQ: RGNX) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing gene therapies designed to address genetic defects by delivering functional genes to enable the production of therapeutic proteins or antibodies. The company's investigational therapies utilize adeno-associated virus vectors from its proprietary NAV Technology Platform, which comprises over 100 AAV vectors that provide preferential tropisms for various tissues and efficient transgene delivery and expression.

The company's pipeline concentrates on three therapeutic areas: retinal diseases, neuromuscular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. Lead programs include surabgene lomparvovec (sura-vec, ABBV-RGX-314), developed in collaboration with AbbVie for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy; RGX-202 for Duchenne muscular dystrophy; RGX-121 (clemidsogene lanparvovec) for Mucopolysaccharidosis type II; and RGX-111 for Mucopolysaccharidosis type I, the latter two developed through a strategic partnership with Nippon Shinyaku.

REGENXBIO has built integrated, end-to-end capabilities spanning research and development, preclinical and clinical development, scalable manufacturing, and commercialization. The company operates the REGENXBIO Manufacturing Innovation Center in Rockville, Maryland, a cGMP production facility supporting clinical and future commercial production. The company has developed proprietary manufacturing platforms including NAVXpress for high-yielding AAV vector production and NAVXcell custom cell lines designed to increase production efficiency.

The NAV Technology Platform generates revenue through sublicensing arrangements with biopharmaceutical companies, known as NAV Technology Licensees. Notable licensed programs include Novartis' Zolgensma and Itvisma for spinal muscular atrophy, both FDA-approved and used to treat thousands of patients. This partnering strategy provides capital to advance the company's internal pipeline while maintaining focus on its core development programs.

The company maintains expertise in delivery device systems for multiple routes of administration, including to the central nervous system and ocular regions. REGENXBIO's website is www.regenxbio.com.
