Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN) is an American automotive technology company developing and manufacturing electric vehicles alongside vertically integrated software and services. The company operates through two reportable segments: Automotive and Software and Services.
In the Automotive segment, Rivian manufactures consumer vehicles on its R1 platform, which includes the R1T pickup truck and R1S sport utility vehicle, both equipped with proprietary zonal network architecture, electric powertrains, and the Rivian Autonomy Platform. The company also produces the Rivian Commercial Van platform, including the Electric Delivery Van designed in collaboration with Amazon. Rivian is preparing to launch the R2 midsize SUV in the second quarter of 2026, built on its midsize platform designed to optimize manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction. The R3 and R3X crossovers represent future product offerings on this platform.
The Software and Services segment encompasses vehicle electrical architecture and software development through an equally-owned joint venture with Volkswagen Group, advanced driver assistance features under the Autonomy+ brand, vehicle remarketing, repair and maintenance services, charging infrastructure through the Rivian Adventure Network, software subscriptions including Connect+ for consumers and FleetOS for commercial customers, and ancillary services including insurance, financing, and accessories.
Rivian manufactures vehicles at its Normal Factory in Normal, Illinois, with capacity to produce up to 215,000 vehicles annually across all platforms. The company is constructing the Stanton Springs North Facility near Social Circle, Georgia, anticipated to produce 400,000 vehicles annually in two phases beginning in 2028. As of December 31, 2025, Rivian employed 15,232 people across North America and Europe.
