Ryerson Holding Corporation (NYSE: RYI) operates as a leading value-added processor and distributor of industrial metals across North America and China. The company's primary business involves purchasing metals in bulk from producers and selling in smaller quantities to end-users while providing specialized processing and fabrication services. Nearly 80 percent of the metals products Ryerson sells are processed to meet specific customer requirements through techniques including cutting-to-length, laser cutting, bending, welding, and numerous other specialized services.
The company maintains a comprehensive product portfolio spanning carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steels, aluminum, and limited lines of nickel and red metals in various shapes including coils, sheets, plates, bars, and tubing. Ryerson carries approximately 75,000 products and typically fulfills around one million orders annually. The company serves approximately 40,000 customers across diverse manufacturing end-markets including commercial transportation, fabrication and welding, machinery and equipment, consumer products, heavy equipment, climate control, power generation, and machine shops. No single customer accounts for more than 6 percent of sales, with the top 10 customers representing approximately 15 percent of revenues.
As of December 31, 2025, Ryerson operates approximately 4,300 employees across 103 facilities in North America and three facilities in China. Ryerson's business model emphasizes providing superior customer service, technical expertise, and inventory management solutions while maintaining competitive operating costs.
