What Satellogic Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Satellogic Inc. (Nasdaq: SATL) is a vertically integrated Earth observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems to deliver high-resolution geospatial imagery and analytics to government, defense, intelligence, and commercial customers worldwide. Founded in 2010, the company operates a constellation of 19 satellites in low Earth orbit, with 18 operational and one in testing, providing decision-grade insights at scale through its proprietary imaging technology and AI-first architecture.

The company operates two primary business lines: Data & Analytics, which includes tasking services, archived data access, and the Aleph Observer persistent monitoring platform, alongside Space Systems, which sells complete satellite solutions to sovereign customers. Total revenue for 2025 reached $17.7 million, with geographic distribution across North America ($12.1 million), Europe ($2.8 million), Asia & Asia Pacific ($2.5 million), and South America ($0.4 million).

Satellogic's competitive advantages center on radical cost leadership achieved through vertical integration and in-house manufacturing in Montevideo, Uruguay, combined with proprietary camera design that captures approximately ten times more imagery than competitors. The company's NewSat Mark-V satellite costs approximately $1.3 million including launch expenses and delivers over 300,000 square kilometers of daily imaging capability at 50-centimeter resolution. The company maintains a non-ITAR design, enabling rapid deployment without export control restrictions and positioning it uniquely for sovereign space programs across multiple nations.

The company employs 154 full-time employees globally, with significant operations in Argentina, Spain, Uruguay, and the United States. Key recent developments include the launch of Aleph Observer in February 2026, a $30 million multi-year contract with a strategic international defense customer, an $18 million agreement with Portugal for two satellites, and expanded partnerships with Suhora in India and Vantor in the United States. The company's upcoming Merlin AI-first constellation is expected to launch in late 2026 and achieve full operational status in the first half of 2027, funded entirely through existing customer contracts.
