In the company’s own words
Senseonics Holdings, Inc. (NYSE American: SENS) is a medical technology company headquartered in Germantown, Maryland and focused on the development and commercialization of long-term implantable continuous glucose monitoring systems for people with diabetes. The company's website is senseonics.com.
The company's primary product is the Eversense CGM system, an implantable glucose monitoring platform consisting of three integrated components: a subcutaneous sensor inserted under the skin in the upper arm, a removable and rechargeable smart transmitter worn over the implantation site, and a mobile application for real-time glucose monitoring. The Eversense 365 system, approved by the FDA in September 2024, provides continuous glucose monitoring for up to twelve months, compared to seven to fifteen days for non-implantable CGM competitors. The Eversense E3 system offers six-month monitoring capability. Both products have received CE Mark approval for commercialization in European Economic Area markets.
Senseonics operates in the early commercialization stage of its Eversense brand. In January 2026, the company assumed full commercial responsibility for Eversense in the United States from distribution partner Ascensia Diabetes Care Holdings AG, establishing its own sales force and marketing operations. The company maintains a network of healthcare provider partners and inserters trained to perform sensor placement procedures. In October 2024, Senseonics acquired the sensor insertion network assets of NPG to expand patient access through its Eon Care subsidiary.
The company generates revenue from sales of Eversense sensor packs, smart transmitter packs, and procedure fees associated with sensor insertion and removal. Reimbursement coverage represents a critical success factor, with approximately three hundred million covered lives in the United States through commercial and government payors including UnitedHealthcare and Medicare. The company also operates patient assistance programs to address access barriers.
Senseonics outsources manufacturing of all Eversense components to contract manufacturers across North America and Europe. The company maintains an intellectual property portfolio of approximately five hundred four issued patents and pending applications worldwide, with expiration dates ranging from 2026 to 2049. Future product development initiatives include the Gemini system, combining CGM and flash glucose monitoring functionality, and the Freedom system incorporating Bluetooth technology to eliminate on-body components.
