SolarMax Technology designs, installs, and sells photovoltaic solar energy systems and battery backup systems for residential and commercial customers, primarily throughout California. The company also provides commercial and industrial solar-based battery energy storage systems through engineering, procurement, and construction services. Additionally, SolarMax Technology offers LED lighting products and systems to commercial and governmental customers, along with financing services for solar system purchases through third-party leasing companies.
The company operates through four wholly-owned United States subsidiaries: SolarMax Renewable Energy Provider, Inc., which develops and installs photovoltaic and energy storage systems and performs EPC services; SolarMax LED, Inc., which handles commercial LED projects and governmental special projects; SolarMax Financial, Inc., which services existing customer loan portfolios; and SMX Capital, Inc., which owns and maintains renewable energy systems under existing leases and power purchase agreements. SolarMax Technology also maintains four wholly-owned subsidiaries outside the United States related to prior China operations, though these are not currently active.
For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, the company generated total revenue of approximately $91.0 million. The large-scale battery energy storage systems segment represented the most significant revenue contributor at 66.1 percent, driven primarily by an engineering, procurement, and construction contract with Longfellow BESS I, LLC for a 430 megawatt-hour facility in Texas. The company has installations at more than 12,000 homes and businesses. In March 2024, SolarMax Technology completed its initial public offering, issuing approximately 5.0 million shares at four dollars per share.
The company competes with local utility providers, established renewable energy companies including Tesla and NextEra Energy, and numerous smaller solar installation providers. Competition is primarily based on pricing and financing availability. SolarMax Technology maintains supply chain relationships with multiple tier-one vendors and leverages strategic relationships in project financing to deliver integrated battery storage and solar solutions.
