What SONO TEK CORP does

In the company’s own words

Sono-Tek Corporation (Nasdaq Capital Market: SOTK) designs and manufactures ultrasonic coating systems that apply precise, thin film coatings to add functional properties, protect, or strengthen surfaces on parts and components across multiple industries. The company's website is http://www.sono-tek.com.

Founded in 1975 by Dr. Harvey Berger, the inventor of the ultrasonic nozzle technology, Sono-Tek became a public company in 1987. The company operates as a single reportable segment, with manufacturing and assembly facilities located in Milton, New York, where corporate offices are also headquartered. Sono-Tek maintains additional operations including a sales and service office in Singapore and an application process development laboratory in Guangzhou, China. As of February 28, 2026, the company employed 79 full-time and 10 part-time employees.

Sono-Tek's ultrasonic nozzle systems use high-frequency vibrations to atomize liquids into minute droplets applied at low velocity, providing microscopic layers of protective and functional materials. The technology enables dramatic reductions in overspray, raw material waste, water and energy usage while improving process repeatability and transfer efficiency. The company's product portfolio includes Multi-Axis Coating Systems, Integrated Coating Systems, Fluxing Systems, OEM Systems, and subsystems such as the Universal Align.

The company serves diverse end markets including microelectronics and electronics, medical devices, industrial applications, alternative energy, and emerging research and development. Specific applications encompass printed circuit board flux coating, semiconductor photoresist application, medical device coatings including stents and blood collection tubes, flat glass coating, textiles, fuel cells, solar cells, and carbon capture technologies. In fiscal 2026, international sales represented 33 percent of total net sales, with the company selling through direct sales personnel, independent distributors, and sales representatives worldwide.

Sono-Tek maintains ISO 9001 certification and emphasizes product quality, customer service, and applications engineering expertise as core competitive advantages. The company invests substantially in research and development to advance ultrasonic coating technologies and expand market applications. With no debt on its balance sheet, Sono-Tek maintains financial flexibility to pursue organic growth and strategic opportunities.
