The Bank traces its origins to 1887 when it was originally chartered by the state of Missouri as a mutual savings and loan association. Following its conversion to a stock savings bank and subsequent transformation into a trust company with banking powers in 2004, Southern Missouri Bancorp became a bank holding company regulated by the Federal Reserve Board. The Missouri Division of Finance serves as the Bank's primary regulator, while the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation provides deposit insurance coverage.
Southern Bank operates a comprehensive community banking platform serving customers across a five-region footprint spanning Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, and Kansas.
