The Detection and Measurement segment provides underground pipe and cable locators, inspection and rehabilitation equipment, robotic systems, transportation systems, communication technologies and aids to navigation serving utilities, telecommunications providers, defense agencies and municipalities. This segment generated $746.9 million in revenues with a backlog of $350.3 million. Key brands include Radiodetection, Pearpoint, Schonstedt, Cues, ULC Robotics, Genfare, TCI, ECS, KTS, Flash Technology, Sabik Marine, Sealite and Avlite.
SPX Technologies traces its heritage to 1912 when it was founded as the Piston Ring Company in Muskegon, Michigan, adopting the SPX name in 1988. The company completed a holding company reorganization in August 2022. In September 2015, SPX spun off SPX FLOW, Inc., which held the Flow Technology segment. The company has pursued an active acquisition strategy, acquiring TAMCO, ASPEQ, Ingénia, KTS, Sigma & Omega, Thermolec and Crawford to strengthen its market positions. International sales represent approximately 20 percent of total revenues. The company owns 462 patents and maintains numerous registered trademarks across its product portfolio.
