This segment serves blue-chip end users primarily in the Southeast, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Rocky Mountain regions and accounted for a significant portion of the company's revenue mix.

Transportation Solutions encompasses infrastructure and rehabilitation projects for highways, roads, bridges, airports, ports, rail systems, and storm drainage infrastructure. This segment relies heavily on federal and state infrastructure spending and operates primarily in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, and the Pacific Islands, with core customers being state Departments of Transportation and regional transit, airport, port, water, and railroad authorities.

Building Solutions comprises residential and commercial concrete construction services, including foundations for single-family and multi-family homes, parking structures, elevated slabs, plumbing services, and surveys. The residential business operates primarily in Texas, specifically the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston markets, with expansion into the greater Phoenix area. The commercial business focuses on concrete construction for developers and general contractors in commercial markets.

As of December 31, 2025, Sterling employed approximately 4,400 people, comprising roughly 1,200 salaried employees and 3,200 hourly employees, with approximately four percent union representation. The company maintains a decentralized, adaptive business model that supports organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Since 2016, Sterling has completed eleven acquisitions to expand its service offerings, geographic footprint, and customer relationships. The company's backlog reached $3.01 billion at December 31, 2025, with contracts typically completed within six to thirty-six months. Sterling's strategic focus emphasizes risk reduction, bottom-line growth through high-margin products and services, expansion into adjacent markets, and building a platform for future accretive growth.
